Meet Acorn!
Thank you for visiting The Acorn Project. It is our sincere desire that this site, the hand signs, the written instructions, videos and, of course, Acorn’s DEAFinitely Awesome Dictionary of Signs book serve as a resource for shelter/rescue staff, trainers, veterinarians, and adopters of deaf dogs.
The dogs featured in the training videos on this site were all shelter dogs at Cleveland Animal Care and Control (CITY DOGS Cleveland). The dogs did not receive advanced training for the videos, however, we did screen them for attention/interest in training and reward. They learned each selected behavior on camera for the first time and made mistakes as your dogs will. But they all learned and they all had fun.
Acorn, who was rescued by CITY DOGS and is the inspiration for two books and for The Acorn Project, is making a guest appearance below. If you have any questions, we are just an email away.
